BPA in receipts and dollarsYesterday, it was announced that BPA has been found in all types of currency. Cash receipts and bank notes also contain the substance BPA.  More information can be found in this article, “Paper currency tainted with drugs and bisphenol A

“Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical  used as a plastics hardener. Many products that are clear and also plastic often have BPA. They include eyeglasses, toys, cases and more. The chemical is also used as a protective food can lining. It’s used in epoxy paints and coatings. It coats some cash register receipts.”  BPA also has been shown to cause reproductive and developmental effects in animal studies. Source KCStar.com
After hearing this information, I tried to learn more about BPA and came across this interview on ABC. The video looks at BPA and highlights studies that  have been conducted in the past. I found the video very informative.  I think I will be using ceramic containers to store food and will keep an eye on this story as more information becomes available.
