This spring’s unusually wet and cool conditions are affecting the produce that is available in the market this year. The spring crop is about 3-4 weeks behind this year. Restaurants and consumers looking for fresh produce are having a difficult time finding some items because they are not quite ready yet.
The best advice I have for all of you who like to go to farmers markets is plan on going earlier when the market first opens to get the best pick of the produce. With inventories not where they normally are for this time of the year, make sure you are able to get the produce you are looking for.
