Here are some points to remember that are covered in the video:

  • Salt lowers the freezing point of water.  There is a limit. It only works well from temperatures between 16 and 32 degrees farenheit or down to -9 degrees celsius.
  • For colder temperatures compounds like the following work much better: magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride and potassium acetate.
  • Also, we must always look for ways that protect our environment too when looking at ways to melt the snow and ice.
